  7. Catalog is a system which allows distributors/wholesalers to provide customers
  8. with a (Catalog) file containing product info and full pricing information.
  9. Also the Catalog file can include tax and delivery cost data, as well as
  10. information about the supplier. This file is supplied to customers (registered
  11. version) with a program allowing the viewing of data, and calculation and
  12. printing of quotes/orders including tax and delivery charges.

  16. There are two programs
  17.  
  18. (1) cat.exe - this program is used to enter product, tax, your company, and
  19.               delivery cost information. Data can be read in from a text file,
  20.               and prices can be modified individually, by category, or
  21.               globally (useful if all your prices are increased by e.g. 10%).

  23.               This program also creates the Catalog files, which are distributed
  24.               with the second program (ord.exe)
  25.  
  26.               Catalog files can be wholesale style (with quantity range pricing,
  27.               lot sizes) or simple retail pricing. They can have a use by date
  28.               and password if desired.

  30. (2) ord.exe - this program is supplied to customers (registered version only)
  31.               with the Catalog file, and allows customers to view the product
  32.               information, and create quotes/orders by clicking the mouse on the
  33.               product and entering a quantity. The customer can enter their own
  34.               details which appear on the printed order. The order can also be
  35.               copied and pasted into emails and other documents.

  37.               The customer can specify alternate tax rates and currencies.

  39.               With the registered version you receive an installation disc for
  40.               Order which can be copied and sent out to customers who are
  41.               receiving the Catalog file by disc. For internet delivery, a
  42.               single self executing installation file for Order is also
  43.               provided.

  46. The best way to see what the program can do is to install it by running
  47. install.exe from Program Manager run option (File menu). Then start Catalog
  48. (cat.exe) and press F1 for help. Then go through the "Getting Started" steps.

  51. Both programs (cat.exe & ord.exe) require Microsoft Windows 3.1 or later.
